How long does SightReader take to set up?
How setting it up works
- Nothing to install and nothing for IT to approve beyond allowing the site. It runs in a browser, or as an app from either store.
- A member of staff creates a class and shares its six-character join code. Pupils enter the code in their account and they’re on the roster. That part takes a couple of minutes per class.
- Pupils need a MIDI keyboard for note-by-note marking, or they can use the on-screen piano on any device.

Teachers apply through the teacher form with their name, their school or studio, roughly how many pupils they teach, and a line on how they teach sight reading. Every application is read by hand rather than auto-approved, and we email you either way.

Practice data stays private
Sessions, accuracy and progress belong to the account that made them. We don’t sell or share individual data, and you can export or delete everything on request.
Does SightReader integrate with our school MIS?
What it isn’t
It’s a sight-reading practice tool, not a music-department management system. There’s no marking and no single sign-on with your MIS. You can export the roster and assignment completion as CSV, but staff see each pupil’s grade, practice streak, recent pieces and where they’re stuck — a class list, not a full analytics suite. If those are hard requirements, we’d rather tell you now.
